Connect & Propel Tampa Bay is a nonprofit organization created to help the Tampa Bay community continue to succeed through collaboration. Their goal is to organize summits to discuss the area’s potential for growth and opportunity. This also allows the people involved to share their concerns, ideas, and solutions in a diverse forum to bring about positive change using the Appreciative Inquiry format.
Appreciative Inquiry (AI) is a methodology based on a positive and cooperative group of techniques intended to improve effective leadership, and organizational and individual change. Simply put, it’s a way to engage groups of people who are determined to make a difference that will serve to greater good. It focuses on what’s working in the area rather than what’s not working, empowering individuals to co-design their future, as well as the future of their surrounding community.

The Connect and Propel Tampa 2019 Summit was a 2.5 day event held at the Tampa Convention Center. The Summit brought together various leaders of Tampa Bay’s diverse community, held over 20 workshops, and featured a variety of guest speakers, including Mayor Jane Castor. What made this event unique was the many, simultaneous, “moving parts” within the event. Attendees ranged from grade school children to senior community leaders, and everyone in between. Their jobs were to come up with community challenges that they want to tackle, brainstorm solutions within their groups, then work with the city and government officials to implement those solutions. Our primary responsibility was event coverage. Our goal was to capture all content over the 2.5 days, then provide the raw footage Connect and Propel needed to document all the information gathering that was happening during this extensive Summit. We developed a six week production plan, used three cameras, all positioned to collect footage from all different parts of the conference, and provided music. In addition, our team covered Mayor Casters speech, putting together a one minute sizzler recap mid conference to send to media outlets throughout the community.
