The Gratitude Professor Foundation is a nonprofit organization that gives people a tangible way to show gratitude. Their mission is a simple one. In a world that lacks appreciation and kindness, they seek to provide us with the opportunities to love, give and honor, while paying tribute to those who sacrifice themselves in the name of humanity. This presentation of Operation Protect and Serve, Heroes Honoring Heroes, pays tribute to Dr. Paul Nanda, Chief Medical Officer at TGH Urgent Care. Dr. Nanda is a local and international honoree whose on-going commitment to community and family truly defines what it means to be a hero.

During the pandemic, Edward Pereira, founder of the Gratitude Professor Foundation wanted to take a different approach in honoring Dr. Nanda. He not only wanted to show gratitude but also highlight the doctor’s life, showcasing the many hats our frontline heroes wear. In addition to his role as a doctor, we also feature Dr. Nanda as a husband, father, chief of staff, and colleague. These are additional hats that can be easily forgotten in the eyes of the public. It was important that we tell his story and the many ways he gives in service to others despite all his other roles, especially throughout a time of uncertainty.
Our Approach
Our two-day production focused on our unique approach to telling Dr. Nanda’s story. Maintaining all COVID safety protocols, we were invited into his home to meet his wife, Danielle and their children. We then continued to TGH Urgent Care, where we were allowed access to all areas, given our commitment to health guidelines. Following Dr. Nanda through his daily routine with his family and colleagues gave us the opportunity to showcase a side of the doctor that so few get to see. Witnessing his daughter running into his arms, his wife kissing him goodbye, or just laughing with a coworker, these are the essential moments we aim to capture. His commitment to serve others, while balancing the daily norms of life sets a standard, we should all emulate. As we chronicled Dr. Nanda’s journey, we are reminded that we should embrace the opportunity to give gratitude to the heroes in our lives, always.
